Nine Quick Feng Shui Tips for the Office

Feng Shui literally means wind and water.  It is often referred as the ancient Chinese art of placement to achieve harmony with the environment.

Natural energy is always flowing around us, but it can sometimes be caught up in clutter and disorganization that it can’t be fully utilized.  The principles of feng shui allows us to open up the space to allow the "chi" or energy to freely move through the environment and rejuvenate it.

Whether you believe in feng shui or not, the following quick feng shui tips will make your work space look better and possibly make you feel better and do better with your work.  Afterall, feng shui is meant to aid in enhancing your workspace to bring out the best in you.

1) Remove clutter from your desk and office for an easy flow of energy.

2) Sit with your back towards a wall to ensure you have support in your life.

3) Face the door, but your table and chair should not be directly in line with it. Business enters through the door and you should not turn your back against it.

4) Provide, good comforatble non-glare lighting.  If possible use natural light.

5) Make use of fish tanks or indoor fountains for great results and success. You can place it in the North, East and South East but never in the South.  Make sure the water is not stagnant.

6) Use plants, fresh flowers and energizing aromas to create positive energy in the room. You can put a money tree or a jade plant but avoid cactus and other sharp plants. Make sure the plants remain healthy.

7) When decorating make use of colorful objects to enhance creativity.  However, maintain a balance of the yin and yang. Make sure everything is balanced; such as a mix of bright and light colors, smooth and rough objects.

8) Hang a crystal by the door or the window to enhance and activate chi.

9) Arrange your table and chairs in a harmonious position so that the chi is able to flow smoothly.
