Homeowners to spend more on remodeling in 2008
At least one group of real estate professionals are benefitting from the current slowdown in the residential market: professional remodelers.
Homeowners will spend an average of $11,250 on home-improvement and maintenance projects in 2008, according to a survey done by Angie’s List, the popular online home-repair referral service.
That figure is up 13 percent from what homeowners reported spending on average on remodeling and maintenance in 2007.
Angie Hicks, the founder of Angie’s List, said many homeowners are taking on remodeling projects instead of putting their homes on the market.
According to Angie’s List, kitchen and bath renovations rank as the projects that homeowners will most frequently take on.
