Garden Makeover : Another sure-fire way to add value to your property
Last weekend, my husband and I organized a "garden makeover" of our front yard. When we bought our property, the front and backyard were pretty much bare. Since we moved in a few months ago, we’ve slowly added plants and landscaped our backyard. However, the crucial part is the front yard for that "curb appeal".
A lot of buyers don’t even bother to stop, if they don’t like the view of the house when they drive by; also known as the curb appeal. Even if they do decide to buy, they would usually discount the value of your house for the work they have to do.
That was exactly what we did when we bought the house; heavily discount it. Last Saturday, when we finished replacing the turf in our front yard, it looked so much different. In fact, me and my husband were discussing that if the owner fixed the front yard at a cost of a few hundred dollars, we could have added a few thousand dollars more in our offer price. Replacing the bald, patchy and weeded turf with a low maintenance and water efficient one made a huge difference. To add, "low maintenance" is one of the key features that most buyers are looking for in a garden. With the emergence of new turf varieties such as "Empire Zoysia", having a lawn is now effortless. It added more character and depth to the house.
The video above of a garden makeover, demonstrates how simply decluttering your garden from excessive and misplaced plants and putting a turf can add value to your house. It’s a very simple landscaping job that doesn’t require a lot of effort or huge expenses, but the returns are great. See for yourself the difference!
