Foreclosures hit the Hamptons

by Dan on June 3rd, 2008

The Hamptons, the upscale New York-area playground for the wealthy, would seem to be one part of the country safe from foreclosures.

Unfortunately, not even the wealthiest of regions is escaping the foreclosure boom sweeping through the country.

This story in Newsday from writer Randi Marshall shows that foreclosures are rising even in the Hamptons. Among the houses that Marshall found in the foreclosure process is a $19 million estate in the very upscale town of Bridgehampton.

So here’s more evidence that foreclosure can hit anyone. As I discover stories like this on the Internet, I wonder if the crowd of critics who say that they’d never lose their home to foreclosure is shrinking. The way the housing crisis is going, it looks like no one is safe from losing their homes.
