Each year, Coldwell Banker ranks all 119 Division 1-A college football towns according to how much it would cost to purchase a 2,200-square-foot single-family home. It’s a fascinating survey, and one that’s fun to pore through. Search for your college town to see how expensive – or affordable – it’d be to purchase a single-family home there.
Working as a real estate agent isn’t as fun as it once was. It takes longer to sell homes. Sales prices are stagnant. The days of multiple offers on properties are long gone. Come to think of it, selling a home isn’t as fun as it once was, either.

Yes, officials with the National Association of Realtors are once again engaging in one of their favorite activities: blaming the media for the housing industry’s problems.

Notice that when I listed the benefits of homeownership I didn’t mention that owning a home is a great way to build wealth. Most Web sites will list that as one of the top reasons to buy a home instead of renting. But I’m here to tell you, don’t count on your home as a way to get rich.
Residential green building is only available to those homeowners who can afford it. Those who can’t spend the extra money for energy efficient features? They’re out of luck.
